WHAT A YEAR BRINGS June 4th 2006 while hiking we come upon a little skeleton of a cat just a day or two from starving to death. We estimated his age to be around 4 weeks. His eyes changed color from blue to gold in a couple of days. There was the removal of 19 plus ticks and the doling out of food every hour or so until his system gets used to eating again. Then food at will and lots of cuddles.
He thrives and puts on weight. A visit to a vet to get him started on all the things a kitten needs to stay healthy in this dangerous world. We fall madly in love. The other cats aren't too sure.Otis falls in love with Opie. When Otis isn't biting Opie on the butt Opie thinks things "aren't too bad". He's an unfixed male suffering from the Heartbreak of Testosterone. This will change in a few months with a visit to the vet (snip!).Omar loved him from the beginning. Someone new to play with! Otis feels the same way. He develops a strong affection for licking Omar's ears. A year later he's a healthy, opinionated, feisty cat. He's family and we love him. Happy First Birthday Otis. You almost didn't make it.

Exercising strong willpower I put down my latest craze and bring out Claude. I'm in the midst of trying to figure out what the heck I did and where to go next.

I get a lot of help right down to the insect level.

Here is a photo of the flowers seen outside the window. I took this moments ago. It is now hailing. It is HAILING HARD.

Oh! Oh! Oh! She touched me. The needles have moved. Hallelujah! I say again, Hallelujah!

Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy!

Otis is beautiful. As a kitten and as a grown-up kitty.

Your cats do as mine do--sit on the knitting. Which is why I have to lock them out of the bedroom when blocking a lace piece on the bed.

Happy birthday, Otis! You're a lucky kitty (and a very handsome one) (and so are your co-cats - wouldn't want to create friction).
